Wassell Barn is ideal for those wanting to get away from it all, occupying a splendid rural setting with lovely views.
Completely refurbished in 2015 to an exceptional eclectic and contemporary style, here is a base, not only for walkers, but those wanting to explore all of the many interesting towns and villages, as well as historic houses and gardens that Herefordshire and Shropshire have to offer.
Wassell Barn has three bedrooms and three en-suite shower rooms and can sleep six guests.
THE CART SHED
The Cart Shed is a charming barn conversion that has been refurbished to an exceptional standard while still retaining its original charm and character.
A luxury country retreat for up to four people, The Cart Shed is a barn conversion on the Downton Estate, a magnificent stretch of countryside that straddles the hills of the Shropshire and Herefordshire border. The single-storey accommodation has a spacious kitchen, dining and sitting room with a wood-burning stove, with access to the patio area and the views of the rolling countryside. Both double bedrooms are also en-suite.
Stay at the Cart Shed and you really will feel like you’re getting away from it all. The 5,000-acre Downton Estate is magical, and the River Teme cuts a deep limestone gorge through the beautiful landscape. There are lots of charming village and market towns to explore in the area, including Ludlow, world-famous for its excellent restaurants.
THE TIMBER BARN
Like its two sister properties, The Timber Barn is a barn conversion that has been renovated to offer a superior level of comfort. The owners have been careful to ensure that the property has retained its original rural charm and character, while taking advantage of its setting to ensure guests have wonderful views of the picturesque landscape all around. One of the delights of staying here is the fact that an award-winning restaurant is literally just a two-minute walk from the front door.
The open-plan living area has some superb views of the rolling landscapes of the Downton Estate, which extends to nearly 5,000 acres along the Herefordshire and Shropshire borders. There are plenty of footpaths through the woods and the area is famed for the beautiful Shropshire Hills.
