Spring into Colour

There is a sense of purpose everywhere

Tucked against the Welsh borders, where the land rolls gently into meadows spring at Downton is synonymous with lambing. Across the fields, ewes graze with their newborn lambs, the birdsong is joyous and in the distance tractors rumble preparing the land for an expectant harvest. There is a a sense of purpose everywhere.

A promise of colour

Apple trees burst into blossom ready to bear fruit for our hand pressed apple juice. You will find a bottle in your hamper!

Bluebells appear; entire carpets of violet-blue beneath lime and oak. Pretty paths beckon inviting you to wander and muddy your boots.

And as weary legs head home, you can relax and unwind in your luxury holiday cottage where longer evenings stretch golden across the valley. There is time for tea taken outdoors, for tomorrow’s walking plans and for watching the sun sink slowly behind distant hills.

After months of muted tones, colour is returning. Spring in the Herefordshire and Shropshire borders unfolds quietly. Crops push through the soil, lambs find their feet and apple orchards burst into blossom. It is a time of quiet mornings, longer light and a promise of colour.
